Keeping you informed and connected |
There are a multitude of ways you can volunteer and engage with NEURISA! An abbreviated list is below:
Join a Committee
We currently have several committees that are looking for more members. Committee members should share an enthusiasm and desire to get involved with the geospatial community. Committees will meet via conference calling at agreed-upon times, likely once a month. Additional time commitment may be needed to address action items discussed on calls. The following committees are active and looking for new members:
-Sponsorship Committee - Identify, contact, and coordinate with potential sponsors for NEURISA and its events.
-Professional Development Committee - Plan events like “Mappy Hours”, resume review meetings, mapathons, and other networking events.
-Communications Committee - Assist with outreach, writing the monthly newsletter, and creating content for social media posts.
-Diversity and Inclusion Committee - Review NEURISA's practices with a focus on improving outreach and inclusion of people of all backgrounds and levels of expertise.
-Education Committee - Focuses on our partnerships with local colleges and universities and works to expand our footprint in K-12 education.
Submit your ideas by emailing neurisa@gmail.com - all suggestions welcome!
Attend a Board of Directors Meeting
All Board of Directors meetings are held via conference call at 10:30am Eastern on the second Thursday of every month. All meetings are open to the NEURISA community at large, however, only the Board is allowed to vote on motions. Each Fall we host a special NEURISA members meeting where general NEURISA members can participate and get to know the Board a little better.
If you'd like to attend, send an email to neurisa@gmail.com and we'll send you the meeting information!
Join the Board of Directors
Executive Board members are all elected to serve two-year terms. Elections are held near the end of the calendar year, after the NEURISA Day conference, and all NEURISA members are allowed to vote. If you are interested in running, reach out to any of the current Board members!
Attend or Help Plan an Event
From "Mappy Hours" to Mapathons, resume reviews to panel discussions and poster presentations, come attend a NEURISA-held or NEURISA-sponsored event for GIS professionals in New England! Have an idea for an event? Know of a cool place to host a get-together? Let us know! Mappy Hours are one of the most popular events - for more information on how to host your own Mappy Hour, click here.
